Backwash is more than just a social networking website; it’s designed much like an online newspaper. You can read articles, featured columns, take fun personality tests and explore links to other websites. Backwash is a free global social network.

You must be 18 to join the Backwash network. To connect with other Backwash members, you can search for people by gender, age, relationship status, sexual orientation, zip code and country. You must disable your browser’s pop–up blocker to use instant messaging.

After a simple registration, you can establish your profile, upload your photo and post information about yourself. We had some difficulty getting past the profile questions. We answered all the required fields such as gender, relationship status, sexual orientation and location, but we received an error message stating that not all required fields were filled out, so we were unable to conduct useful searches for other Backwash members.

Unfortunately, we didn't find a very active community on Backwash. After browsing some groups we only saw a few categories that included any sub-topics.
