Facebook Allowing You to Set Your Own URL

It's great that my friends can know how little I am actually doing with my life because I spend ALL my time on Facebook. At least I have 500 virtual friends. But I'm not so certain I'm loving this new feature where you can change your URL on Facebook. Starting Friday night/Saturday morning (12:01 a.m.) Facebook is allowing you to change your "username." But I have a few issues with this.
For one, they're calling it a username. Why not just say it like it is and call it a URL? Does this mean I have to start signing in with this username? What if I don't change my URL? Do I have to sign in with the random number id Facebook assigned me like 6549876? Awkard. Plus, it doesn't really sound like this URL will be any different. Facebook says it's to make it easier to search for me ... but if Andrea Edmunds of Posh Tots is hanging out on Facebook at midnight on Friday and gets the URL facebook.com/andrea.edmunds ... I would think it would make it harder to find me. And then what URL do I choose? Do I have to resort to nicknames like andi or dre or eddie?
Or could I create my own entirely unique URL like facebook.com/resists.change? That part could get a little sticky, but Facebook says they are reserving the right to reject any URLs they want to. I don't think this URL thing will change much, but I'll probably change mine ... not because I really want to, but because I'll probably be on Friday at midnight anyway.
