Facebook Worm a Threat, Facebook Doesnt Seem to Care

Friends won't be the only thing you'll find on Facebook if you're not careful. Recently Kaspersky identified a worm making its way around Facebook and MySpace that can turn your computer into "zombie computers to form botnets."
Okay, zombie computers sound a little more dangerous than they really are. You could lose information, but your computer isn't going to eat your brains.
Probably.
But the worm is still serious business. And it uses a pretty insidious method to get you to download it. The worm creates a message purporting to be from your friends recommending a video on what looks like a YouTube address. When you follow the link, you'll see a prompt to download a new flash player. That's where the trouble starts.
Moral of the story: Get your flash player from a reputable source and forget about prompts to download a new one.
Oh, and don't expect any sympathy from Facebook. Worms are not their problem, Facebook says. It looks like detecting and avoiding the Facebook worm is all up to you.
Thanks for caring Facebook.
