Make Pizza Hut Your New Facebook Friend

Soon the ingenious vision of comatose people never leaving their chairs so perfectly depicted in this summer's Disney/Pixar movie Wall-E, will be a reality. In an effort to monetize and exploit the social network scene that we all participate in (if you say you don't you are either in denial or lying) Pizza Hut has created a Facebook app creatively named the Pizza Hut Interface, that enables you to order your pizza, pasta, calzone or whatever other fake Italian food they sell without you ever leaving your Facebook homepage.
Wait a minute, didn't they just rename themselves Pasta Hut? Whatever, the food still sucks.
Now, the concept of ordering your food online isn't exactly new, but putting it on Facebook and calling it an "app," ... well, pull out the trumpets it's time to celebrate. Everything with the word "app" in it means it's cool right, and I totally want to be cool. That's why I'm on Facebook.
Pizza Hut's VP of Marketing Communications, Bob Kraut is quoted as saying "Facebook is the next logical step for Pizza Hut. As Facebook's popularity grows among younger socially connected consumers we have the opportunity to provide a pizza experience they will love - our convenient ordering combined with Facebook's relevance." We are still trying to figure out if they drew this non sequitur conclusion before or after they sniffed glue.
At the moment, Pizza Hut's Facebook page has more than 300,000 friends and the Pizza Hut Interface has 106 monthly active users. (We'll pause for your oohhhs and ahhhs.) Like most of the Facebook apps you register your name then attach the corporate symbol to your profile.
We're interested to see how effective or profitable this hat trick becomes. We only ask our friends and friends of friends not to invite us to join their sponsored Pizza Hut Mob Family.
We've reviewed all the best social networking sites for your social pleasure, and we've got a few other blog posts that don't try to recommend friends you haven't seen since 2nd grade:
